5 Everyday Things to Add Coconut Oil to in the Winter
Using coconut oil in the winter is essential. It is extremely versatile - you can use it on your body for external wellness, or in recipes for internal wellness (yes, you heard that right, it's 100% organic!). You’ll find that Conscious Coconut Oil is not only a wonderful treatment that hydrates, moisturizes, and renews your skin, but internally it helps to aid in digestion, boost your metabolism, and keeps your insulin levels in check.
We're here to give you the best uses for coconut oil and to explain why it's critical to use in your daily life like it is ours. We'd love to hear some of your favorite uses too!
1.) In Your Coffee, Tea or Hot Cocoa
Coconut oil is a healthy fat and using it in your morning coffee, tea or hot cocoa will provide appetite control and make you full longer. CoCo is high in the healthy saturated fat, lauric acid, and medium-chain fatty acids which work to control your appetite and boost your metabolism before your day gets its start. Mix one Coconut Oil Packet in your tea or coffee and you'll be moving and grooving in no time! Plus, you'll be fueled up for a long day on the slopes.
2.) As a Moisturizer
You may already know that coconut oil can be used to heal your dry skin. In the winter this is critical. It can effectively heal eczema and wounds due to its amazing antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, and healing properties. Apply Conscious Coconut Oil on affected areas 2-3 times daily for best results. Using CoCo daily will also kelp to keep your skin glowing through the cold winter months!
3.) Exfoliating
Coconut oil helps to exfoliate the outer layer of your body’s dead skin cells, making your skin feel smoother and look more radiant. Apply Conscious Coconut to your dry or cracked skin to get that moisture back in! Our Dry Brush Bundle works wonders for winter skin, too. Our vegan bamboo dry brush helps to slough away dead skin cells, and using coconut oil afterwards will help to lock in moisture. Soft and glowing? Yes please!
4.) For Windburn & Chafing
Feeling the burn from the cold winter air or after a day out on the slopes? Soothe stubborn windburn and chafing by rubbing Conscious Coconut Oil on areas of high friction on your body (like underarms or inner thighs) and on other affected areas such as your face, cheeks, and neck. Coconut oil’s natural moisture and nutrients help to repair irritated skin and ease burning sensations.
5.) Deep Conditioner
If your hair is feeling dry during these winter months, use coconut oil as a deep conditioner. Your hair will thank you! Your locks will be significantly less frizzy and moisturized. Simply rub coconut oil throughout your ends, throw your hair up into a bun, let CoCo do its magic for 20-30 minutes (or overnight for added moisturizing), rinse, and voila!
